Phases of Lockdown in India

Lockdown 1.0

At the beginning of the year 2020, Coronavirus was spreading gradually from China to other countries. Since the whole world was not aware of the disease it hardly fetched concentration to other countries. But the situation got suddenly worse, and scientists found that it is a highly contagious disease and they don't have sufficient information to tackle the situation.

Since no one has developed the vaccination yet, all countries decided to put their border on the seal. This is the very first time when a disease put the whole world under lockdown. The Indian government also observing the pandemic situation and therefore decided to take the appropriate measure by ordering a nationwide lockdown. The first phase started on 24 March 2020, when Prime Minister of India locked the movement of 1.3 billion people for 21 days, and only the National Cadet Corps National Service Scheme people were allowed to enforce the curfew.

The step taken was actually worked as it slowed down the number of growing new cases. As a result, the other state government recommended extending the lockdown. 

Lockdown 2.0


Before the first phase of lockdown would complete, Prime Minister announced on 14 April 2020, to extend the lockdown until 03 May 2020. That was the beginning of Phase-II of lockdown in India. There is no doubt that the workers and other migrants have fallen away from their cities with this decision.  By the time of Lockdown Phase-II, people had patience with the thought that maybe in a few days they will be able to go to their house.

Lockdown 3.0

The third phase of lockdown commenced from 4 May to 17 May. This time the lockdown was elongated for a fortnight, as well as an endeavor to provide some assuagement to the public. The country was divided into three components, which included the Red Zones, Orange Zones, and Green Zones.

Red Zones were the ones that had the most cases and where patients were growing very expeditiously. The Orange Zones were the ones in which the cases were less than the Red Zones. And the Green Zones were the ones in which there were no cases that were visually perceived in the last 21 days.

The mundane Kineticism of people was commenced, but public convey is still stalled. At this stage, it was assured by the government that if cases would be less visible in any red or orange zones, the stringency of the rules of lockdown would be minimized.

Lockdown 4.0

The way Corona cases are emerging, the situation in the infected district of the country has become solemn. The last date for the third phase lockdown was 17 May. Some states' regimes have injunctive authorized some assuagement in the lockdown. On the other hand, the Punjab regime has made it clear that the lockdown will perpetuate till 31 May. After that, the lockdown can be hoisted in Punjab.
